Emily Champoux, MPH, RD
Program Dietitian

Emily grew up in Minnesota, just outside the Twin Cities with a mom who happened to be a dietitian herself. She was raised to believe all foods can fit in a balanced diet and that cooking can be fun when we learn to experiment in the kitchen. To this day, these two beliefs are the foundation of her own wellness philosophy.
When Emily went to college at the University of Minnesota, she was interested in learning more about the role nutrition played in preventing disease. She was fascinated by how our food system, family traditions, and inherent beliefs about wellness influenced our behaviors. Counseling students in college offered her the opportunity to explore the real challenges that everyday people face when it comes to eating foods that nourish their bodies and support movement. Emily's fascination with behavior change and desire to learn more about the social influences that drive our behaviors led her to pursue a Master of Public Health at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) During her time in graduate school she had the opportunity to learn more about health promotion, chronic disease prevention and social determinants of health.
Emily is excited to work in San Francisco with such a phenomenal company. Working one-on-one with clients is what she does best. With a holistic and weight inclusive approach to wellness, she focuses on empowering her clients to discover a more balanced relationship with food, their bodies and exercise. She's proud to be apart of an organization like Lotus; one that challenges diet culture and reduces stigma around weight and body size each and every day. Ultimately she hopes that by working with staff and clients we can together, slowly make the world a more accepting place for people of all sizes, race/ethnicities and gender identities.
