 Intensive Outpatient Program

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The Lotus Collaborative's IOP offers clients 3 hours of support up to 7 days a week. This is best suited for clients that need the support of a treatment program while continuing to practice recovery at home. This level of care is also helpful for clients that work, go to school, or have an active home/personal life or who are transitioning from higher levels of care. Our IOP is a great opportunity for clients to gain traction in recovery around areas they may feel stuck. It offers clients a chance to continue to build and apply recovery skills both within the structured support of program and in their daily life outside of program. Additionally, our programming allows for clients to be mentored and to mentor others, as their recovery progresses, all while in the safety of a recovery focused community.

Treatment days of our IOP include group therapy, nutrition education, and one supervised meal or snack. Clients receive weekly individual therapy with a Lotus primary therapist and dietary sessions with our registered dietitian. TLC will also collaborate care with a client's outpatient team and any referring providers. Clients must be medically stable and see an outside medical doctor or psychiatrist on a monthly basis. We offer an Program hours vary slightly between locations, please call to confirm exacte schedule offerings

The IOP level of care requires a minimum attendance of 4 days a week. The number of days each client attends will vary, and is largely determined by multiple factors including, but not limited to, results of their clinical assessment upon admit and week-to-week progress evaluations. If you have schedule restrictions accommodations may be possible, please consult with our admission team.

 Treatment Philosophy & Approach

Dr. Esalen believes that treatment should provide connection with oneself, others and a recovery community. She believes we must align our hearts, bodies, minds and souls, and experience mastery opportunities including the chance to mentor others earlier in recovery. TLC provides treatment that is "just right," balanced between evidence-based skills approaches, with deep, interpersonal, psychospiritual process work. True healing cannot come exclusively from quantitative, impersonal, outcome-focused, "expert" and "sick patient" practices. And conquering an eating disorder cannot come from solely a kind, well-intentioned listener-therapists. The Lotus Collaborative believes recovery is best achieved by providing solid education, teaching loving awareness of oneself and others, skills training, and strategies to substitute eating disorder behaviors with is what one truly needs.

The Lotus Collaborative's offers a unique blend of therapeutic approaches within our programming. While The Lotus Collaborative is not strictly a DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) program, the structure of our programming is influenced by DBT principles. DBT is a validated therapeutic approach that focuses on the development of healthy coping skills and emotional regulation. If you are interested in learning more about this treatment approach here is a helpful resource link: What is DBT?

TLC also incorporates the Internal Family Systems model into it's programming. IFS is an evidenced based practice rated effective for improving general functioning and well-being. In addition, it has been rated promising for improving phobia, panic, generalized anxiety disorders and  depression and depressive symptoms. For for information on IFS, please visit the Center for Self Leadership website.

Another treatment approach we incorporate into our programming is EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is widely recognized as an effective treatment for reliving the distress associated with traumatic memories. If you are interested in learning more about EMDR here is a helpful resource link: What is EMDR?

Staying true to our philosophy around the importance of mind and body alignment, TLC also integrates yoga therapy as well as Somatic Experiencing (SE) techniques. If you are interested in learning more about SE and eating disorders here is a helpful link What is SE?
