Micah (pronouns she/her) is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the State of California (#5193). Micah obtained a masters degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Wilderness Therapy from Naropa University.
As a therapist and clinical supervisor, Micah integrates body-centered and strength-based psychotherapy with wilderness interventions to offer a holistic and creative approach to working with clients. She focuses on supporting clients addressing eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression and sexual identity exploration. She is passionate about supporting gender diverse, non-binary and transgender clients from a gender-affirmative approach. Her aim is to address the whole person to understand patterns and create new healthy inner dialogue and behavior.
Micah is a queer cisgender woman that continuously educates herself and pursues training in order to provide gender affirming therapy to the trans, nonbinary and queer communities. Micah is a member of the Santa Cruz Transgender Consultation Group, a group of therapists, medical professionals, and community advocates who collaborate to bring gender-affirming care to trans and non-binary clients in Santa Cruz County and the greater Bay Area. She has co-presented several times at the Gender Spectrum conference on the intersection of gender and eating disorders, and supporting families in transforming grief.
She is certified in both Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing therapy (EMDR). These modalities can be used to address a wide range of client needs, including trauma, eating disorders, anxiety and depression. Her clinical approach varies to meet the needs and goals of the client. Micah is calm and grounded, creating a safe and non-judgmental space for exploring thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Being recovered from an eating disorder herself, she knows the human potential for creating the change we deserve and need to grow.
