Sammy Ethridge, M.A., AMFT
Primary Therapist, San Francisco

Picture
Sammy Ethridge is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#114758), supervised by Kaye Anderson LCSW #19013. Sammy has a Masters in Clinical Counseling with a concentration in Somatic Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, and received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont for Community and International Development. She began working at The Lotus Collaborative in February 2020 and her previous clinical work has been at The Center for Somatic Psychology in San Francisco, and Seeds of Awareness as a school-based counselor in Marin County.

Sammy believes every person has the right and capacity to feel safe in their body. Her work is to provide a sacred space where each person can explore their wholeness without shame, limitations, or labels. She is passionate about facilitating the conditions for an individual to ignite their own innate healing powers which may lay latent within themselves. She believes every person has a healthy voice moving them towards more agency and peace, and away from suffering. Her approach is Somatic and believes in a MindBody connection where she brings empathy and curiosity to the therapeutic process alongside a deep knowing humans are inherently good. She draws on various modalities to meet each client’s individual needs, including, but not limited to movement, yoga, mindfulness, relational, and trauma-informed approaches. Nervous system regulation serves as the foundation of the work and she supports clients in exploring what regulation practices work best for them.

Outside of her clinical work, Sammy founded a nonprofit in 2016, No Mirror Movement, in response to her own eating disorder recovery as a way to create a safe sacred space for those who love to dance to do so in an environment focused on getting out of the mirror and back into their bodies. The dance collective uses mindfulness, somatics, expressive arts and community care to help alleviate mental health stigma and support individuals restore their sense of self, authenticity in relationships, and connection to community. The collective is all levels, all bodies, and all styles, and has performed throughout California and New York.
