Take the first step
& connect with admissions
Our admission specialists are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm PST to answer your questions and discuss treatment options.
You can also reach us by email at info@thelotuscollaborative.com. If you would like to expedite this process you may also submit an admissions application.
The Lotus Collaborative is proudly in-network with the following insurance providers:
We also partner with the counties of San Francisco, Santa Cruz, and Alameda to accept Medi-Cal through Single Case Agreements.
Additionally, many insurance plans allow for a Single Case Agreement (SCA), which is a special arrangement where your insurance company agrees to treat Lotus as in-network for your care, even if we’re not already listed on their provider panel. This can allow you to access your in-network benefits for treatment at Lotus.
If your insurance plan doesn’t currently list us as in-network, we’re always happy to explore an SCA on your behalf. We have extensive experience with this process and a high success rate, and our admissions team will guide you through each step.

Absolutely. At Lotus, we believe mental health care and eating disorder recovery are most effective when people feel seen, affirmed, and safe to show up as themselves. Many of our clients and staff identify as LGBTQIA2S+, and our environment reflects that.
From our inclusive intake forms and gender-neutral bathrooms to pride flags in our windows and rotating cultural spotlights, every detail is intentional. Our team includes members of the communities we serve, and we’re committed to ongoing education, training, and conversation to ensure our care is both affirming and informed.
Located in the heart of San Francisco’s Castro District, right next to the Pink Triangle Memorial, and in Santa Cruz, our centers offer spaces where every identity is welcome and healing feels possible.
-
Yes. We believe mental health care is gender-affirming care, and so is eating disorder recovery. Because we’re a small, community-rooted center, every treatment plan is individualized to reflect the client’s full experience.
We’ve supported clients with goals such as coming out to family, exploring how an eating disorder may have masked gender dysphoria, or learning to build more affirming, inclusive relationships.
Our trauma-informed, gender-affirming programs create space for people of all genders and identities to heal, rebuild trust with their bodies, and reconnect with themselves in safety and community.
-
Our program exclusively provides individualized care. With a small number of clients, we work hard to address each client's individual needs. Each client meets with a therapist and a dietitian at least once a week for individual care. Clients and staff create weekly contracts to address each client's goals and progress.
-
Most clients stay somewhere between 4-6 weeks at each level of care, but treatment varies per client’s needs.
-
Meal and exercise plans are determined on an individual basis taking into account a variety of factors including both psychological and physical concerns.
Food goals are created in collaboration with the client’s dietitian. Areas of improvement could be anything from food variety to food competency; goals are made to support maintenance of habits that include eating to sustain the client living their best life. Grocery shopping, budgeting, and meal planning skills are prioritized to promote success outside of program.
Eating goals are set with focus on building stable, recurring, adequate, and enjoyable experiences with food. Personal preferences and community norms are explored to build a better understanding of the factors that influence eating habits, and triggers and supporters are identified as they learn to re-navigate their eating norms.
Staff meet every Monday and review the week's treatment plan which includes meal, weight, and exercise plan. We take into account a client's individual preferences and treatment needs. We work with clients to help them formulate their own treatment goals every Thursday. Together, we formulate goals and plans to meet a client where they are.
-
Each client’s food, eating, and weight goals are determined based on their unique needs, experiences, and norms.
Weight goals are connected to the intensity of the physical and mental health symptoms a client is experiencing. When the body is far from its natural set point weight, thoughts, feelings, and overall functioning can become destabilized. We pay close attention to medical, psychological, and emotional symptoms to help identify the weight range where the body is best supported and functioning well.
If a client’s body is outside that goal range, we use an anti-diet approach to rebuild eating habits that support whatever the body needs, whether that means weight changes up, down, or staying the same.
-
In the beginning of eating disorder treatment care, we provide bathroom obs as deemed necessary, Clients are on an observation period after meals as this is usually the hardest time for clients.
-
The Lotus Collaborative honors relationships that clients have with their current treatment team. We welcome your team's input and will work to collaborate care so that you receive the best treatment possible. When doing discharge planning, we coordinate with your team to minimize the transition from PHP/IOP to outpatient.
-
Payments for outpatient sessions and groups, missed days, and co-pays, can be made with cash, check, or credit card. We ask for a credit card number to hold your initial consultation appointment time. If you do not show for your appointment or do not provide us with a 24-hour cancelation notice, we will charge your card. If you make the appointment, you will not be charged for the free consultation.
