About This Group

Saturday mornings, The Lotus Collaborative hosts a free online recovery support group that runs from 9:00am until 10:00am. This group is for anyone struggling with an eating disorder to get recovery support, as well as to practice giving recovery support to others. While this is not a therapy group, it is a supportive virtual environment in which to meet others working towards recovery, build relationships, gain insight, and practice recovery skills.
Everyone working towards eating disorder recovery is welcome.

Taboo Topics

Please refrain from talking in numbers (calories, clothing sizes, weights) as well as discussing exercising, types of exercise equipment; minutes spent doing, etc. We suggest instead of saying “I went walking for xxx minutes”  you could say “I overexercised” or instead of “I binged and purged xxx times with xxx foods “ you could say “I binged and purged last night.”
We are aware that some clients have a history of significant sexual trauma. We therefore ask that those who wish to discuss sex do so in a respectful manner and not discuss sex in a casual, graphic, or lewd way. We may put an end to a discussion if staff assesses that the topic is being discussed in an unhelpful manner.

Who is Appropriate for this Group?

Appropriate members for this group are NOT: 1) actively suicidal or homicidal (i.e. thinking about hurting themselves or someone else), 2) currently in crisis, 3) severely physically or medically compromised and without the support of a treatment team or treatment program. If you are suicidal or in crisis, we encourage you to call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline (1-800-273-8255) or San Francisco Suicide Prevention (1-415-781-0500).
** Please note this a FREE ONLINE support group and NOT a regulated therapy group. This means the facilitator and participants may vary week to week. The group is open to the public and discussions may contain intense content not suitable for all audiences.
