Leah Hopkins, MS, R.D.N
Program Registered Dietitian
Leah is a clinical dietitian and nutrition therapist. She obtained her B.S. in dietetics from SFSU and her master’s degree in human nutrition from the University of New Haven. During her long career as a registered dietitian, she has worked in public health research, acute care hospitals, outpatient nutrition education, community-based recovery programs, and residential and PHP/IOP eating disorder treatment centers in the S.F. Bay Area and on the Monterey Peninsula. Leah has been providing nutrition education and counseling, specific to eating disorder recovery, to adolescents, adults, and families for more than 20 years. She continues to own and operate her private nutrition counseling practice in Monterey, California. Leah is committed to teaching individuals the skills of competent, intuitive, and normative eating, helping her clients become free from thoughts and behaviors that keep them stuck in a harmful and dysfunctional relationship to food and their bodies. Leah believes that all bodies are good, regardless of shape, size, and individual abilities. Leah’s approach to those suffering from eating disorders is based upon a body-positive foundation. She is an advocate of the HAES model of care and considers herself an “anti-diet” dietitian. Leah is passionate about life-long learning and continues to sharpen her skills and expand her knowledge in the growing fields of nutritional neuroscience and the concept of the gut as the “second brain.”
