Mermaid House Program Description:
At TLC, we know that recovery from an eating disorder is a long journey that requires on-going support. For many clients, living in a supportive recovery-focused home is a valuable supplement to treatment. Successful recovery requires a period of living in an environment that provides the additional support of outpatient therapy and other outside structure. Living in a supportive environment provides the opportunity for those to re-enter work and school life with newly learned life skills. Program Features: • Short walking distance from the beach, UC-Santa Cruz, groceries stores, banks, restaurants, etc. • Located in beautiful Santa Cruz with easy access to public transportation • Bedroom is fully furnished with bed, linens, nightstand, desk and chair • Kitchen amenities include dishes, utensils, pots & pans, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker and more • Linens (bathroom towels, sheets, pillows, blankets and bedspread) can be provided or clients can bring their own comforts from home. • Cable TV and Wi-Fi access Please call us at 831.600.7103 for an application to live at The Mermaid House.

You asked, and we delivered! We now offer transitional housing for PHP and IOP clients. Our goal at The Lotus Collaborative is to provide optimal support for those struggling with an eating disorder. To better provide our clients with well-rounded transitionary support, we are now a living environment that complements the life skills we teach during treatment. Often times our clients need gradual integration back into independent living settings and we now can answer this growing need. Daily house checks, 24 hour support, staff assisted grocery store trips and process groups are all included in our transitional housing. Welcome to The Lotus Collaborative! I’d like to personally thank you for considering TLC in assisting you in your recovery journey. The Lotus Collaborative has been a dream of mine for some time. Many years ago,
I was called to open a healing center in a beautiful place that provided those seeking a soft place to land. When I first came to Santa Cruz sixteen years ago, I felt the magic of the redwoods and the mist of the ocean and knew this is a perfect place to find healing. After working for other people and running their treatment programs, I knew it was time to pursue my dream of creating my own health and recovery center. I've created a treatment center with heart and soul, top-notch treatment, and caring staff. I know profound healing can happen when guided by kind, competent staff that have a passion for helping clients obtain health and happiness. Come and see how TLC is different from other treatment programs and just how powerful the journey toward recovery can be. We look forward to meeting you and helping you begin your journey. In my heart of hearts,
I no longer want to be Better than you Smarter than you Thinner than you Prettier than you Faster than you Stronger than you More accomplished than you More creative than you A better mother than you A better friend than you Better educated than you ANYTHING more than you. I want to walk this path Side by side In awe of who you are In awe of what your gifts are To see you only in love and light With your beauty shining through Just as you are. And I want you to see me the same way. For I really do love you Just as you are. I only thought I had to be better In order for you to love me. I drop this cloak of outshining at the gate. It has been such a heavy burden, An unnecessary burden A self imposed burden. Will you still love me Being just as I am. In my heart of hearts, I know you will. By Katy Stevenson from Awakeningwomen.com The National Eating Disorders Association's 2014 Theme: "I Had No Idea". This year's NEDAwareness Week theme is "I Had No Idea" to raise awareness towards the significant impact eating disorders have on individuals, families, and communities across the nation. The more people who learn about these life-threatening illnesses, the more lives we can save. Last year, 100% of U.S. states hosted NEDAwareness Week events and activities. Additionally, 51 international countries participated in raising awareness. This year we strive to surpass these numbers, and have everyone get in the know and do just one thing to raise awareness! http://nedawareness.org/get-in-the-know
We are partnering with the Health Center the University of California Santa Cruz to bring more eating disorder awareness to their student body with a week worth of programming including movies and workshops. http://www.ucsc.edu |
